Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone (BGEZ) is a special economic zone in southern China intended to strenghten and develop new ties with the other ASEAN countries. Beihai is uniquely situated as the “stategic pivot” for shipping and trade.
The Beihai Island is part of the Greater Regional Beihai Masterplan. Three alternative development schemes were studied intergrating educational, civic, cultural, hospitality, entertainment retail and regionally themed parks, with residential uses. Alternative industrical and shipping focused develolpment schemes were also studied.
